The place for extreme drops.

Nassahegan is not really know for great trails or any real trails. It's better know for it's dirt jumps and drops. For those for like to Freeride and Dirtjump this is the place for you. It is located off of Stone Rd. in Burlington, CT.

There are four major areas to see when you visit. One area is the dirt jumps by the parking area. These are mostly well kept and have some nice landings. Nothing to extreme here but nice for a quick jump of a beginner. A little ways down the road lies an entrance to an older and now mostly abandon short drop. The 7 cent Hooker was one of the first drops to be built and has a 2ft drop into a rough root ridden landing, this is the reason for it's abandon. If you follow the trail up from the 7 cent Hooker you will come across a bridge system that has seen it's glory days and is not falling apart. Continue along the trail and you will come across two of the steepest and highest drops in the park.

These two drops are the hardest to make. The highest, known as the Widow Maker, has a record drop of 15ft held by Dave Penn. The smaller drop next to it will still give you a good 8ft for a drop but lands rough. Up the path, past the Widow Maker, you will come across a service road. Unless your with a person who knows the area you'll never find another trail system know as Old Stumpy. Called this for its drop its one of the newest drops built. Clearing a good 10ft into a smooth landing and down into a bridge and rock system it is one of the most technical areas on this side of the road.

Across the road are some nice small drops and little trail systems. This side of the road has the most developed sections of trials. The trails all lead into drops or jumps at some point that are mostly smoothing landing and not too extreme. A beginner would not really be welcome here and a lot of walking is needed to get to the trails and drop systems. See as the drops and trails are build by a group of bikers around the age of 16-18 this a good amount of building. Along with the builders the DEP has restrictions on what can and can't be build in the park. As of now ONLY natural drops can be incorporated in trails. Most of the man-made stuff has been torn down. Surprisingly enough the Widow Maker has survived and should see many for avid Freeriders off it wooden edge.
